Every routine gets interrupted: illness, travel, a busy season, a rough patch. The interruption isn’t the problem. The story we tell ourselves afterwards often is.
Skip the all-or-nothing reset
You don’t need a fresh start on a Monday or the first of the month. You can restart at 3:47 on a Wednesday afternoon.
Restart smaller than before
Do the easiest version of your old routine for a few days. One habit instead of five. Ten minutes instead of an hour.
Look at what changed
If a routine stopped working, ask what got in the way and adjust the routine, not yourself.
