The 2-Minute Rule for a Calmer Morning

Mornings don’t need a routine of seven steps. They need one small thing you can do even when you’re tired, late, or flat.

The 2-minute rule is simple: pick one task that takes two minutes or less and do it before you look at your phone. Make the bed. Fill a glass of water. Put your keys where you’ll see them tomorrow. That’s it.

Why it works

Starting is the hardest part of almost everything. A two-minute task is small enough that there’s nothing to negotiate with, and finishing it gives you an easy first win before the day gets loud.

Make it yours

Choose the task the night before so you don’t have to decide in the morning. If a day goes sideways and you skip it, nothing is lost. Pick it back up tomorrow, no catching up required.
